In the vibrant land of Rajasthan, the art of Jaipur hand block printing has flourished for centuries. Originating from the historic towns of Bagru and Sanganer, this craft was preserved by the skilled Chhipa community, who have passed down the art of printing and natural dyeing through generations.

Influenced by the Mughal era, the craft evolved with intricate floral motifs, delicate patterns, and Persian-inspired designs. Artisans carve detailed patterns on Sheesham wood blocks and carefully hand-stamp them onto fabric using natural dyes such as indigo, madder, and pomegranate.

Bagru is known for its earthy tones and the traditional Dabu mud-resist printing technique, while Sanganer is famous for its delicate floral prints and the doo-rookhi technique, where designs appear on both sides of the fabric.

Today, Jaipur remains one of the world’s most respected centers for hand block printed textiles, preserving a rich tradition where every print reflects heritage, craftsmanship, and the spirit of Rajasthan.
