The Story of Jaipur Hastkar
A Legacy of Craft, Heritage & Devotion
The journey of Jaipur Hastkar is not merely the rise of a brand —
it is a story of dedication, family tradition, and the timeless art of hand block printing. This legacy began in 1980, when Munna Lal Chhipa learned the traditional art of block printing.
Coming from Alwar, he carried a deep respect for handmade craftsmanship. With limited resources but great determination, he began printing fabrics at home together with his wife Prem Lata Devi. At that time, hand block printing was not widely known or celebrated as it is today.
Yet inside their modest home workshop, wooden blocks, colours and plain fabrics slowly transformed into beautiful printed textiles.
A Craft That Grew With Dedication
Over time, the family’s dedication began to grow into something larger. The eldest son Bhupendra Kumar Chhipa started learning the art of block printing alongside his father while continuing his education. He gradually became skilled in colour preparation and printing techniques.
At the same time, the younger son Shanu Kumar Chhipa developed a sharp eye for design detailing and colour combinations. Together with their father, they spent long days experimenting with new colours and patterns in their workshop. Numerous samples were created every day, and from these many experiments only the finest designs were selected.
These selected samples were then taken to markets, shops and showrooms where they were presented to shopkeepers and buyers. Through patience and persistence, orders slowly began to come in. What once started inside a small home workshop gradually expanded — transforming the family craft from a household activity into a growing production space.
